Build the world’s most useful community for travellers
We help travelers connect with trusted travel experts to get authentic and personalized travel advice
We define authenticity as being true to the highest values that we’ve chosen for ourselves. We also weigh every choice we present to our users in terms of whether or not it will help them live up to their own highest values as travellers.
“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It's about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.”
― Brene Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are
3 C's: Connection, Community, Co-creation
While the forces of commodification of travel are strong, we insist on keeping travel and the trip planning experience about personality, human connection and personal growth. Words like “readymade”, “package” and “instant” don’t find place in our world. Rather rewards come in the form of moments of connection, community and co-creation.
“The pleasure we derive from journeys is perhaps dependent more on the mindset with which we travel than on the destination we travel to.”
― Alain de Botton, The Art of Travel
We evaluate every opportunity through the lens of whether it is good for the user, good for the planet, does it make the world more open, honest and connected, and only then look into whether it can help us pay our bills. Much of the fun of doing what we’re doing lies in challenging conventional wisdom, leading a simpler and more examined life, and making a living without losing our souls.
“How you climb a mountain is more important than reaching the top.”

Aashish Gupta (founder)
I love travel. I founded TRVLbud to give expression to this love and to share it with the world.
When my mask and cape are off by day, I'm the Head of Product at a startup. By night (and on weekends), I'm busy *cough* saving the world *cough*, building TRVLbud.
In my 19 years of experience (as of 2020), I've worked both in India and the US, at very large companies (Microsoft, Amazon) and at startups of every size from 1-person (just me!) to 100+ people teams.
My family includes my spouse, two kids and our dog. In my spare time, I'm into travel (duh!), art, swimming, food (vegetarian), meditation (Vipassana), yoga, scuba diving and my motorcycle.
